SIC Account
What is the SIC account?
We provide the so called SIC account for students and employees of the SIC (Saarland Informatics Campus), since most of our provided services are using our central identity management system.
Keep in mind that the SIC account is different from the Saarland University (UdS) account, where the latter is e.g. needed for LSF/MS Teams. If you need a UdS account, please take a look at this PDF or contact the HIZ (Hochschul-IT-Zentrum).
For using the SIC account you must accept the so called Rechnerbetriebsordnung (RBO). Please use a translator if you are not a native german speaker. This is a legal german document.
SIC Account for Students
All newly enrolled students that are associated with the SIC will get an automatically generated email to their student email address containing information about their SIC account at the beginning of each semester. In case you enrolled later (e.g. if the semester is in more than its second week), please use the optional self registration here. Please use this option only in this case and be patient otherwise. In addition, if your study subject is not found in the corresponding drop down on the registration site, chances are very high that you are not eligible for an SIC account.
SIC Account for Employees
The onboarding process for new employees should be started by the office or the head of the chair at your place of employment via creating a new ticket. For creating an SIC account, we need the name of the new employee, an email address, as well as the end date of the employment.
Deactivation of SIC accounts
Student accounts are automatically deactivated if they have not been enrolled in the last two semesters.
Employee accounts have an expiry date and we will start to send out emails with a notification if such an account is to be expired. In case you receive such an email and you are still employed at a chair in the MI faculty, please contact the office of your chair that they confirm with us via a new ticket that your account should be extended to a new expiry date.
Deletion of SIC accounts and associated data
Before your account is deactivated, you should make sure that you have a backup of the data that might be associated with our services, e.g. emails, gitlab repositories, nextcloud files etc.
We will delete data associated with deactived accounts, if they have been deactivated for 6 months. This process is not reversible.
Management of the SIC account
We provide the SAM (SIC account manager) where you can manage information associated with your account, as well as do password resets if you forgot yours.
